The recently established federal program “Opportunity Zones” can help American Indian tribal communities many of which have poverty rates in excess of 20%. Many Tribes are in an Opportunity Zone or are part of a zone. Tribal lands are the size of many States combined and offer good long term investment opportunities and investments can also be supported by other federal tax credits and programs.
